Final conference of project Table has been held at the Regional Chamber of Economy Nis, on 4rd and 5th of September 2014. During two days conference there were more than 110 participants from business community, public institutions, business organizations, educational and R&D institutions from Serbia and Bulgaria. The following topics were discussed: about project - how it was made; what was the idea behind it; raising competitiveness of the furniture companies; study tour and B2B activities; EU-CEFTA study and experience of beneficiaries ISO certification; E commerce web site and Product catalogue; young people - new ideas - Design Workshop Master Class and presentation of the winners; distant learning experience; new curriculum; next steps - future of the furniture clusters and potential funding.
The conference was opened by Professor dr. Dragoslav Stojic,Vice Dean for Scientific Research from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Nis, Mrs. Biljana Stankovic, director of the Centre for the Development of Jablanica and Pcinja Districts, Ms. Genoveva Hristova Murray, director of the Bulgarian furniture cluster and Docent dr Miomir Vasov, Project Manager. The educational aspect of the project was elaborated in later discussions of doc. Dr Miomir Vasov and prof. dr Vladimir Tomasevic from the Faculty of Engineering Management from Belgrade. Project manager, Mr. Miomir Vasov stressed the importance of youth participation in the project. Students had opportunity to gain professional practice and to design prototypes of furniture. Project introduced innovative methods of learning and exchange of curriculum such as web conferences and webinars with usage of modern conference equipment that is sourced by the project. Faculty improved methodologies and communication with cross-border educational and scientific institutions. Prof. dr Vladimir Tomasevic presented a new curriculum for the subject Industrial Design to the representatives of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Technical University of Sofia and to Clusters members.
In summarizing the project results, it was concluded that the project has contributed to the increase of economic synergy in the border area between Serbia and Bulgaria through the strengthening of the network for support to furniture producers in region and their participation in joint EU market. Project has fostered educational cooperation and transfer of best practices between educational institutions and design offices in cross-border region.
At the end of the Final Project Conference, new funding opportunities has been presented by the representative of the CBC Serbia. Project partners agreed to jointly work on new project proposals which will be step forward in their cooperation.
